sparc64/5.99.45: panic in init

I've just upgraded my sparc64 to a current build with sources of approx
12:00 UTC yesterday and now it panics in /sbin/init as well as /rescue/init

ie:
ok boot disk netbsd -a

kernel is GENERIC (plus lvm2 and pf instead of ipfilter; compiled after
the same cvs update as the userland)

I ran postinstall (as I did a upgrade from 5.99.43 -> .45) and a sh
MAKEDEV all in /dev

As the issue is the same, if I boot the old kernel with the newer
userland and even, if I boot with /rescue/init as init, my guess is
somewhere in the direction of /dev!?

Any ideas?

cheers
 Martin
