I have this problem when mounting the cdrom (via sysinst)
from an install cd:

cd0(ixpide0:0:1):  Check Condition on CDB: 0x00 00 00 00 00 00
    SENSE KEY:  Not Ready
     ASC/ASQ: Medium Not Present
 
mount_cd9660: /dev/cd0a on /mnt2: Operation not supported by device
