DRI makes X slower (Re: radeondrm drm_attach error)

Ok, so I'm now running X11 with Option "DRI" enabled.  Many things (moving
windows around, scrolling in Firefox, ...) are a *lot* slower now than
before, and glxgears has about the same speed as before.

I suspect DRI broke 2D acceleration or something?
