ath0: device timeout

I was hoping things might improve upgrading from netbsd-4 to netbsd-5,
but I still get many of the following:

Apr 13 18:03:13 zion /netbsd: ath0: device timeout (txq 1, txintrperiod 5)
Apr 13 18:03:43 zion /netbsd: ath0: device timeout (txq 1, txintrperiod 4)
Apr 13 18:03:50 zion /netbsd: ath0: device timeout (txq 1, txintrperiod 3)
Apr 13 18:04:24 zion /netbsd: ath0: device timeout (txq 8, txintrperiod 2)
Apr 13 18:04:42 zion /netbsd: ath0: device timeout (txq 8, txintrperiod 1)
Apr 13 18:04:47 zion /netbsd: ath0: device timeout (txq 8, txintrperiod 1)
Apr 13 18:08:47 zion /netbsd: ath0: device timeout (txq 8, txintrperiod 1)

After each one, there is a chance that one or more of my ssh sessions
drop, so it is rather annoying.

Card reports at startup:

It's a D-Link DWL-G520 rev B4, fw 4.31. sysctl values are all default.
ifconfig is:
ath0: flags=8943<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,PROMISC,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
        ssid succubus nwkey *****
        powersave off

        inet6 fe80::21b:11ff:fe17:6b70%ath0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x3

I've moved it between PCI slots to attempt to minimise interrupt
sharing, but that doesn't seem to have improved things.

Any suggestions? A while back, someone suggested running
wpa_supplicant, but I'm pretty sure that's client side - and won't
do hostap.
