Did you try running wpa_supplicant from command line and enable debug
information ?

yes i did.

I get the following in an endless loop

don't know what that all means but i did notice i cant do anything with the output as when trying to redirect to a file all i get is

ioctl[SIOCS80211, op 21, len 42]: Invalid argument

dont know if that has anything to do with it.
