I think the new GENERIC is still generic enough.

GENERIC should provide ~all functions
for users without building a custom kernel.

The only way we had was to put ~all into GENERIC,
but now we have alternative way with the modules.

Nowadays GENERIC becomes too large and
it isn't so generic for all machines, IMO.
