On port-amd64, with an empty $DESTDIR, a './build.sh release' results in the following:

--- cleandir-gnu/lib ---
nbmake: nbmake: don't know how to make clean. Stop
*** [cleandir-include] Error code 2

This is with sources updated via anoncvs as of 2008-10-29 12:49:08 UTC

The same command completes successfully for port-i386, so I'm suspecting something to do with turning on the 32-bit library stuff for amd64?

I see a similar problem, while x-building on i386 for amd64, with source of just now:

My build is not a cross-build; host and target both amd64.

And a cross-build with host = amd64 and target = i386 works. So I suspect cross-build is not the culprit here.

cleandir ===> compat/gnu/lib/libstdc++-v3_4/include
nbmake: nbmake: don't know how to make clean. Stop
--- cleandir-include ---
*** [cleandir-include] Error code 2
1 error
nbmake: stopped in /u1/netbsd-current/src/compat/gnu/lib/libstdc++-v3_4
