Hello...

I have got a ASUS P5VDC-MX motherboard with VIA VT8251 southbridge and a
couple of IDE disks in it.
I thought it run fine. Then I installed two SATA-drives in it and I
discovered lack of speed during copying files from IDE disk to
SATA disk. At the time I had version 3.99.9 installed. That version found
all drives installed in the box (3 IDE and 2 SATA).
Then I tried installing 4.99.42 on one of the SATA-drives if I'm gonna see
some improvments. Now it boots up and runs "fine". No direct hungups or so.
But now it only finds one of the two SATA-drives. Yesterday I tried
compiling 4.99.52 but no change.

Digging through the archives I found this thread.
I'm not shure if this relates to the thread about:
"Kernel only sees 1 SATA channel out of 4 - nv520 chip"

Any suggestions?

However, I cut'n'paste parts from my dmesg running 4.99.42.
