Things brings up something that has been bugging me for a while now.

What do people use for talking to network printers nowadays?  I am
using a server with LPRng (that machine is the print server, and spools
it off to various network printers), but it was kind of a pain and it
seemed .... I dunno, it could work better I guess is my point (the
configuration was weird, and it doesn't handle plain text printing
correctly - those are fixable, to be sure, but I haven't yet had the time
to tackle it).  Is CUPS a better choice?  Something else?
