I tried this kernel on my

  acpi0: X/RSDT: OemId <ASUS ,A7M266-D,30303031>, AslId <MSFT,31313031>

(complete dmesg attached)

Then I entered

  sysctl -w machdep.sleep_state=3

and nothing real happened:

  acpi0: entering state 3
acpi0: cannot enter the sleep state (3)

Also, a 'shutdown -p now' is still not able to power down the machine.
It came up to displaying

  acpi0: entering state 5

... and the machine freezes. After pressing the reset button I wait
for the bios beep for pressing the power button/power down. Then the
machine powers down for less than a second and directly reboots again
(never seen this before!). So I have to wait for a second bios beep to
really power down the machine.

Strange!

Anything else I can test/provide?

Markus.
