So /writing/ to the real time clock kills it. Since reading  
apparently works and ADB too it's probably somewhere above the adb  
driver. If the problem was talking to CUDA I'd expect other  
weirdnesses with ADB devices, reboot & power down and so on. ( just  
in case - CUDA is a microcontroller, we talk to it through a simple  
serial packet oriented interface and it controls ADB, the real time  
clock, power, reset, an I2C bus and a few other things. If  
communication were bad we'd likely see funkiness with other commands  
as well )

This is weird. I usually had to hit it twice to get out of caps lock,  
after that everything was normal.
