   4.1.3 fixes some bugs and is a very easy merge for anyone who needs
   bug fixes right now (unless you're using vax).


FWIW, cvs appears to have merged the vax changes without incident.


BTW: while i haven't done a lot of testing with the new compiler,
it has so far worked as expected.
