It's definitely a bluetooth adapter, and it works fine on MacOS X.
Strangely, on MacOS X, the device shows up as vendor id 0xa12 (which
is Cambridge Silicon Radio) and product id 0x0001 (which is
'Bluetooth USB Adapter' as per src/sys/dev/usb/usbdevs). On NetBSD,
it shows up as product id 0x1000:

Bluetooth HCI:
   Version:	15.86
   Bus Power (mA):	100
   Speed:	Up to 12 Mb/sec
   Product ID:	0x0001
   Vendor ID:	0x0a12
