Speaking of softdep (and I have truncated the crossmailing somewhat, and
perhaps I should have added port-amd64), yesterday I was rsyncing to an
external USB2 disk for backup purposes and it filled up (really filled,
to 105%, since I was doing it as root), and then unmounted it.

The unmount took many minutes, with continuing disk activity, and then
it froze the whole machine permanently. This happened twice so it seems
it is repeatable.

I suspect some circular dependency in the soft dependencies, or
something like that.
