Thanks for the replies which generally said "about as good as current
gets - no big problems, except for timecounters on some systems".

I updated around 1830Z on 13 June.  I did a full build starting with
an empty OBJDIR, and it finished to an iso without incident.  The
resulting system appears to run fine on an IBM Thinkpad T30.
