I tried that ... many times ... with 10.3. It just failed to boot from
a case-sensitive partition. 10.4 seems to have solved that problem (but
I had to make sure to use diskutil to create the partition, _not_ newfs).
Anyway, I got a case-sensitive filesystem now, so everything is happy.
