Two ideas come to my mind:
1.) Your toolchain could be broken. If that is the case the error will always
    happen at the same spot (line 477 of "src/usr.bin/make/arch.c"). If
    that is the case download a 3.0_BETA or current snapshot from
    ftp://ftp.NetBSD.org/pub/NetBSD-daily/ and install it, please.

2.) If the compiler dies at random locations your hardware is probably
    faulty. In my experience random GCC segfaults are definte sign
    for broken memory.
