to continue witha previous thread which was not resolved;

i too have this problem on a dell 8600. various linux distributions work
with my ethernet connection.

netbsd 2.0.2 works fine and recognises it as bce0. that's using both the
install, generic and generic_laptop kernels.

however - with the -current sources, the kernel does recognise the bce0
and assigns addresses to it fine. however any attempt to use it (ip, arp
-a, ping) fails with a console error "bce0: data error".

i can't find any more specific error logs - var/log/messages or dmesg
doesn't give me any more information.

this applies to the -current of today and throughout last week (today
being 26-05-05) and for both the generic and generic_laptop kernels with
no user modifications.

i wonder what has changed in the driver sources?
