I use pkgsrc/graphics/gqview

         - Grab the bitmap of other arbitrary windows
never tried

         - Scale up/down, including a quick key for 'max size while
           retaining aspect ratio'

it's good at this.

         - Display non understood files as plain text
no
         - Print any file as postscript
haven't tried - i use gimp
         - For postscript in, uses gs to generate bitmap then displays
no

         - Does not need to pull in all of kde or gnome

well, just the libs :-)

I use gqview for managing digital camera pictures, and find that it
is fairly fast to examine and delete. I've heard some good things
about gthumb, but it's also gnomy.
