To be honest, I was half expecting something to break when I did it.

That was also one of the reasons I did it.  It if doesn't work, that
either needs to be fixed or at least noted.

There may well still be hidden problems, but I've been running with
over 10k hard link between all the CVS/Root files for many months and
things seem to be working normally.  I do periodically re-run my
script and link-in the all the stragglers that have been created as
normal files since the last time I ran the script.  

Hey I saved 10,000 disk blocks.  Thats got to account for something. ;-)
