I forgot my favourite programm:
prime95 generates Mersenne primes and can do torture testing,
If your hardware (CPU/RAM) is defunc, it will produce wrong
Lucas-Lehmer iterations and warn you.

You can download the static freebsd binary from
http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm
and let it torture test your machine for at least 6 hours.
