just wanted to know if it works for anyone else before I send-pr.

If I just 

echo 'database monitor' >> slapd.conf 

and restart, I can crash slapd by just running

ldapsearch -b 'cn=monitor'

I'm guessing it's a pthread thing again, but my system is about a year
old (just security patches applied) so that may be why.
