Every once in a while see the a large error (5%) in reported clock  
speed on a dual CPU HP LPr machine. The result is that the second  
processor is reported as running 5% faster and the system clock run  
about 5% slower (!) - ntpd is not able to compensate.

Has anyone else seen this or is the hardware getting to old?

The kernel is essentially GENERIC.MP with some unused busses and  
devices removed.
