Stable as a rock, as far as I can tell.  Not sure about with UFS2, but 
that's not been dubbed "-STABLE" yet.  I'm pretty sure FreeBSD's been 
configuring itself with soft-updates turned on for a year or two now.  
I certainly can't remember when I turned it on on all my partitions, 
and nary a quiver.
