Are there ant know issues/workarounds with ptrace() with MP kernels?

I'm asking because, while working on a gdb 6.1 package, I've been running t=
he=20
gdb testsuite. I noticed that the test results varied each time I ran the=20
testsuite until I executed the testsuite while running a single-processor=20
kernel. A very noticeable variation occurs in the tests of signal handling.
