Didn't you mention somewhere around 390 KB/s transfer rate with ftp? Or
did I dream that number?

A few hops, but not too bad. Yes, the first two are probably your modem,
and whatever machine at the other end of that. Looks like the bump comes at
hop 5. It would be interesting to know what equipment and link you have
there, but it's getting tricky to find out.

I also wonder why you would get between 5 and 36 ms on that first hop.
That's a large spread.
