That second send of a message I sent days ago is *not* mine.
...looks like it was relayed through the list again by a Windows
box in Portugal or something.

    I tried to
/build.sh -x distribution
to build userland and X for this same machine (not a crossbuild),
and the machine locked up. ...wouldn't change consoles or anything
else. ...no error messages. It stopped on the following.

# install /usr/src/obj/destdir.i386/usr/X11R6/lib/libX11_p.a
STRIP=/usr/src/obj/tooldir.NetBSD-1.6ZK-i386/bin/i386--netbsdelf-strip
/usr/src/obj/tooldir.NetBSD-1.6ZK-i386/bin/nbinstall -N /usr/src/etc -c -r -o root -g wheel -m 444
-a "/usr/src/obj/toodir.NetBSD-1.6ZK-i386/bin/i386--netbsd3elf-ranlib -t"
libX11_p.a /usr/src/obj/destdir.i386/usr/X11R6/lib/libX11_p.a

Although I did a /usr/src/make cleandir before trying the above,
I did do something stupid just before the make cleandir. It was

/build.sh -D $DESTDIR -x distribution
("$DESTDIR" - just like that, without specifying a particular
directory or needing anything more than a native build)

It was from good advice from someone who provided me with the
crossbuild info just in case it was needed--advice that I messed
up. ...good for a laugh? I deleted the resulting "-x" directory
in /usr/src, did a /usr/src/make cleandir, make obj in /usr/src
and will now try the build again. ...not sure if the erroneous
line above had anything to do with the lock-up.

The updates for src and xsrc were taken from CVS at about 23:00
on the 24th.

This cheap box has 160 megabytes of ram, an AMD K6 450/2 and
an IBM 20G drive on an Acer M5229.
