Fellow NetBSD users

I have a Supermicro 6023P-8 board with a Compaq NC6770 GBit SX NIC
(that's a Broadcom 5701) on it.

The card is recognized, but dmesg doesn't say anything about PHY's:

-------------------------------------- 8< --------------------------------------
bge0 at pci3 dev 1 function 0: Broadcom BCM5701 Gigabit Ethernet
bge0: interrupting at irq 11
bge0: ASIC BCM5701 B5 (0x0105), Ethernet address 00:08:02:28:12:73
-------------------------------------- 8< --------------------------------------

Are PHY's needed for the card to function.

The NIC is connected to a Cisco 6500 Switch. The LINK LED on the card
is on, but the LED on the Cisco side is not.

I can ping myself but not the gateway on the other side of the link.

I can also provoke a complete hard lock (no ping, no ddb) by doing:

# ifconfig bge0 down

So my questions:

- Are there known problems with the bge(4) driver?
- Shouldn't there show up some phy devices? (all phy's enabled in kernel)

NetBSD is current from yesterday (2004/01/15)

Full dmesg for reference:
