This is clearly a merchandising scam.
I for one am not going  to go and buy a new coffee cup/t-shirt/posing 
pouch with a
stick insect on....

 Cant you replace logos with
'powered by NetBSD' and leave it at that if a picture of a daemon 
frightens the sheep?

The 'the devil himself' mail are a little confusing, especially if 
you've never
had mail from Satan before. The first few spams along the line of
'earn $$$$ for your immortal soul' can be a tad disconcerting.


I propose an option on the installer that enables fluffy bunnies
 (possibly toting some kind of firearm, or outlawing the teaching of 
evolution?)
as mascots if the timezone indicates you are in the Deep South.

For the rest of us, how about some of 'Coops Devil Girls'?
