I was afraid of an answer like that.  More over, once I do flash back to
4.25.23 (the last 4.x), and I get NetBSD installed, how do I go about
flashing to 5.x from within NetBSD once this is fixed?

There isn't a Cisco firmware access mechanism that I'm aware of.  May a
Linux tool?
