Hm, my /etc/ifconfig.wi0 on my AP reads vaguely:

nwid TheNetName mediaopt hostap
inet ip.address netmask 255.255.255.0

...and it Just Works.  OS X and WinXP happily auto-detect the network.  So
does NetBSD :-)

wi0: using RF:PRISM2.5 MAC:ISL3874A(Mini-PCI)
