Given that the 'rep outw' to a PCI card will run much faster than a
10M ethernet, there is very little point playing the games.

At 100M (and indeed on a ISA bus) it is quite likely that some other
activity will defer the writes anyway (eg any ISR or DMA burst)
making it pointless again.

Anyone fancy the hatched job?
