Interestingly enough, on my desktop my USB mouse is constantly detaching
and re-attaching. (This is with a November-era -current.) This didn't happen
on my Toshiba laptop, though.

I've not yet investigated, because it reattaches quickly enough that I don't
notice any problems using it. It just fills up my dmesg buffer.
