On my machine:

$ cd /usr
$ ldd bin sbin
ldd: bin: read error: Operation not supported by device
ldd: sbin: read error: Operation not supported by device
$ ls -ldo bin sbin
drwxr-xr-x  2 root  wheel  - 6144 Dec  9 09:06 bin
drwxr-xr-x  2 root  wheel  - 4096 Dec 16 03:33 sbin
