Per my post to macppc, I've encountered similar problems with both:

wi0 at obio0 offset 0x30000 irq 57: 802.11 address 00:30:65:01:37:c9
wi0: using Lucent Embedded WaveLAN/IEEE
wi0: Lucent Firmware: Station (8.70.1)
wi0: supported rates: 1Mbps, 2Mbps, 5.5Mbps, 11Mbps

and a wi0 linksys card.
