I'd not make bigger problem from it than it actually practically
causes. You normally do have installed kernel includes in sync
with rest of userland, so the kernel number is quite a good
indication on whether your userland supports particular feature.

Even just testing version > 1.6 would suffice in this case; anything
more fine-grained is just convenience for people tracking -current
and not really that necessary.
