Not then ... but on i386/1.5ZC I could reliably get total system
freezes doing "telnet localhost 80".  It would then respond
"Trying ::1..." and I have to power cycle my machine.  I'm
running GENERIC_LAPTOP, i386/1.5ZC userland rebuilt 3/24.

I was going to see if there was a PR on this, but since you asked
about a complete freeze ....
