This is very strange:

perry@alchemist$ pwd
/usr/src/usr.sbin
perry@alchemist$ ls -l sendmail
ls: sendmail: No such file or directory
perry@alchemist$ 

Could you tell me what happens if you go into usr.sbin and cvs update?
I am particularly interested in messages while it is updating the
sendmail directory.
