The local Micro Center carries (carried?) a USB/Serial converter made by
QVS, under the model number "USC-1000", or "USC-1009F", depending on which
label you believe. It looks as though the "1009F" means it comes with a 25-9
pin adapter.

It shows up as:
uftdi0 at uhub1 port 1
uftdi0: FTDI FTDI EVALUATION USB <-> Serial, rev 1.10/0.01, addr 3
ucom0 at uftdi0 portno 1: portno 1

and it appears to work at least for tip back to my real serial port. :)

Down side, it comes with a *female* port, which is almost always wrong for
a serial port.
