I also get this situation twice after I run 'startx' and can't switch to
the 'debug' mode.
I build the -current kernel on Sun Nov 4
rxgpc[/home/rxg]% uname -a
NetBSD rxgpc.iplus.net.tw 1.5Y NetBSD 1.5Y (rxgpc) #0: Sun Nov 4 23:30:54 CST 2001 rxg@rxgpc.iplus.net.tw:/home/rxg/mysys/arch/i386/compile/rxgpc i386

But build the XFree86-3.3.6a on Sep 23 with 1.5X
rxgpc[/home/rxg]% ls -l /usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_S3
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root wheel 2229496 Sep 23 13:08 /usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_S3

What's wrong? Should I rebuild my X?
