It's a soundcard built into the motherboard.

auvia0 at pci0 dev 7 function 5: VIA VT82C686A AC'97 Audio (rev H)
auvia0: interrupting at irq 5
auvia0: SigmaTel STAC9721/23 codec; 18 bit DAC, 18 bit ADC, Rockwell 3D
auvia0: warning: codec doesn't support hardware AC'97 2.0 Variable Rate Audio
audio0 at auvia0: full duplex, mmap, independent

I did install FreeBSD 4.3 onto another hard disk, but I couldn't get
the device working within an hour or so. I can't be arsed to spend
any more time on it. Their default kernels suck so I know I wont be
using that. I'll shove this soundblaster card in tomorrow and see
if I get better results.

I've not tried it through the modem yet because mine doesn't support
voice. My new one which does should be here next week in which case
I'll try it with vgetty (vgetty is what opened this can of worms in
the first place).

Regards
Nigel
