I've sort of been following news about the linux driver, and ISTR Alcatel
saying that although they would release source code for the driver, this
wouldn't include the source for the modem firmware (which apparently has
to be downloaded when the device is initialised.

Now if only BT would get around to providing ADSL where I live (and if
it cost less than the current GBP 40 per month)!  Telewest cable modem
is cheaper at GBP 33 per month, but I can't actually get that either.
