I'm trying to package sharity-light-1.2 and I'm having the same problem
on 1.5.1_ALPHA:

sun:~# shlight //BLACKHOLE/Music /mnt -W INVISIBLE -U jmcneill
Password:
error connecting to server: [22] Invalid argument

On the server side, it says this:

[2001/03/08 11:48:24, 1] smbd/reply.c:reply_sesssetup_and_X(925)
  Rejecting user 'jmcneill': authentication failed
