}why, oh why, did we switch to Kerberos V if it would break interoperability?

Particularly when right before the switch, in crypto-us K5 & K4 were
working perfectly for my needs.  Encrypted telnet and K5 & K4 tickets
at login both worked.  I have been trying ever since, and would help
if I could, but can't get that far yet.
