Probably not a typo, but a space conservation. That spelling has been
there since version 1.2 of the file:
1.2          (mycroft 24-Nov-93):              tsleep(bp, PRIBIO, "scistr", 0);

Remember it was only recently that ps would auto-size fields. :-)

Note I'm assuming the desired thing was "scsistr" for whatever resason. It
could well just be a typo.

But since it's unique, it doesn't really matter. :-)
