Running a beige G3 with 1.4Y; boots, but upon compiling the Z kernel, bootloader freezes on boot.

any other reports?

Machine is a desktop chassis G3 with external SCSI drive, Intel EEpro and 3Com 905 100mbit ethers on PCI. Boots 1.4Y just fine.
