If my sound hardware on my Inspiron 3000 will work
then
I'll install NetBSD; it's a Crystal Audio chip I
believe ES4700 on Linux.  I could be wrong, but I
know it's a crystal.  If anyone has this laptop and
knows that sound works, I would love to know about it
