Hi,
I've installed a NetBSD mail server here, where /var/mail is mounted by
solaris clients, so I had to enable lockd/statd. My console is flooded
with messages: "rpc.statd: Unsolicited notification from host <hostname>".
snoop and tcpdump on both machines shows that the client is sending a
call to the status service of the server, at which point the server
logs the message to syslog and never reply to the rpc call.
My knowledge of lockd/statd is limited so I'm not sure if this is correct
behavior of our rpc.statd. In any cases flooding the console with such messages
is not appropriate :)
