I believe it is a new problem.  I have had more of a look and what
happens is I get

wdc0:0:0: missing interrupt
(something)cnt: 0
(another)cnt: 0
wdc0:0:0: missing untimeout

and there it hangs.  I have been spinning down my disk on the laptop
for quite a while, it worked ok with my slightly pre-1.4 kernel it stopped
when I updated on the weekend.
