Thanks Christos, boy do I look stupid.  I guess I've just been copying old
labels in the past and just lucked out that the partitions I wanted to use
had 4.2BSD set for the fstype.  I don't build new disks very often so maybe
I've just forgotten.  This behavior sure makes sense and is an excellent
safety feature.  Sorry about wasting the mailing-list bandwidth.  -- Ken
